Alibaba says its Qwen open-sourced AI model family has produced over 460 models and sparked 300,000-plus derivatives. Its open-weight models accumulated more than 3 billion global downloads in the past six months, surpassing major peers, including 418 million for Google’s models and 227 million for Meta, according to an open-models report.
