Alibaba Cloud Launch in Brazil Highlights LGPD and China Intelligence-Law Tensions
Alibaba Cloud launches in Brazil with low-latency computing, storage, networking and database services hosted in the country, supported by 106 availability zones across 31 regions. The rollout coincides with a Brazil–EU data adequacy decision that expands free data flows, but it leaves open a legal gap regarding Chinese state intelligence access under the intelligence law. Alibaba also targets heavy AI and cloud infrastructure investment.
