AkzoNobel inaugurated an $8.7 million powder coatings innovation lab at its Sassenheim site in the Netherlands. Focused on powder coatings R&D, it aims to develop next-generation formulations, including lower temperature curing to reduce energy use and support customer productivity. The investment is also intended to help cut carbon emissions across the value chain, following a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions from a 2018 baseline ahead of schedule.
