Airbus to assist Air India probe after AI2379 altitude loss

On Aug 4, an Air India A320 (VT-EXO) operating AI2379 from Phuket to Delhi suddenly lost about 300 feet of altitude during cruise, then stabilized and landed safely. India’s government opened an investigation, securing the FDR and CVR. The altitude loss injured eight passengers and four crew, and the captain later returned an initial screening for psychoactive substances pending lab testing.
