Air India’s record loss weighs on SIA as equity plans loom
Air India Group posted a record US$2 billion loss in the last financial year, feeding into co-owner Singapore Airlines (SIA) reporting a net loss of S$76 million in Q1 2026. With the airline reportedly seeking about US$1.5 billion in fresh equity, returns from SIA’s India bets could take years. The stake stems from SIA’s 49% funding in earlier ventures and Vistara investments.
