American Electric Power says electricity demand from data centers and other large industrial customers could provide up to $16 billion in cost offsets for residential customers, backed by a Virginia large-load tariff approved in 2Q 2026. AEP plans $78 billion in 2026-2030 investments and secured about $5 billion in DOE loans, projecting nearly $1 billion in savings, despite lower operating earnings.
