9th Circuit rules Meta and others must face thousands of addiction lawsuits
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Meta and other tech companies’ attempt to overturn a ruling allowing more than 3,000 lawsuits over claims of social media addiction. The court also denied Meta’s bid to postpone a trial brought by 29 state attorneys general alleging unlawful collection and use of children’s data, addictive design, and misleading safety claims, after a prior $375 million jury award.
